The obverse features the classic profile portrait of Paul Kruger, Boer President and has a relief inscription reading “SUID AFRIKA – SOUTH AFRICA”.
The reverse depicts the iconic Springbok, the national animal of South Africa and the high relief inscription “KRUGERRAND FYNSILWER 1OZ FINE SILVER R1”. This side also has a finely detailed 50th anniversary privy mark.
